MOONSTAR

In 1873, Unpei Kurata founded the Japanese footwear brand Moonstar, first called Tsuchiya Tabi. Starting in a small shop in Kurume City, Kurata and his wife created traditional Japanese tabi socks. A visionary, Kurata invested in research and innovation, introducing sewing machines into production. After his passing, the Kyushu Mainichi Shimbun (Daily News) dedicated an article to him titled "Tabi King Dies." With a commitment to quality, Moonstar has remained a leader in the Japanese footwear industry.
